Description

L-Erythro-chloramphenicol is a deacylated form of chloramphenicol, which inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the bacterial ribosome. It is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. L-Erythro-chloramphenicol has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial protein synthesis and mitochondrial proteins in mitochondria. The drug also inhibits the production of proteins in bacterial cells, such as extracts from Escherichia coli and escherichia coli. L-Erythro-chloramphenicol has two dichloroacetyl isomers, which are responsible for its antibacterial activity. The phenyl ring on the molecule serves as a site for chemical reactions with other molecules.
