Description :Trans-cyclobutane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (trans-CBA) is a cycloalkane that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It has been shown to react with malonic acid to form a 1:1 adduct, which can be used for the synthesis of other cycloalkanes. Trans-CBA can also react with sodium salt of furfural to form the corresponding trans-CBA sodium salt. This reaction system has been optimized and is suitable for laboratory use. Pharmacokinetic studies have been done on rats and dogs, showing that this molecule can be absorbed orally and distributed throughout the body quickly. Trans-CBA has a half life of 3 hours when administered orally, with an elimination half life of 6 hours when given intravenously.
