Diethyl DL-malate is an organic compound that is a methyl ester of diethyl malate. It is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analog that inhibits the binding of GABA receptor antagonists with their receptors, as well as inhibiting the binding of GABA to its receptors. The ethyl decanoate shown in this product can be used as a sample preparation agent for microcapsules. Diethyl DL-malate has been shown to inhibit the activity of ATP channels, which can lead to an increase in the accumulation of intracellular calcium and subsequent activation of protein kinase C. This product has also been shown to have potent antimicrobial properties against bacteria, yeast, and fungi, which may be due to its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis by blocking the enzyme methyltransferase.
