Description :
N,N²-(1,2-Phenylene)dimethanesulfonamide is a ligand that binds to the transition metal ions in the active site of the enzyme xanthine oxidase. It has been used to analyze the structural biology of this enzyme and to study the parameters that affect its activity. The magnetic property of N,N²-(1,2-Phenylene)dimethanesulfonamide has been shown to be useful for sensing. This compound can be used as a sensor for nitric oxide (NO), which is an important mediator in inflammation and apoptosis.
