Quercetin 3-O-neohesperidoside is a flavonoid glycoside that is found in the rinds of citrus fruits and has been shown to have vasodilatory effects. This compound has been shown to inhibit the activity of adenosine deaminase, which is involved in the activation of T lymphocytes. Quercetin 3-O-neohesperidoside may also protect against arteriosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and increasing the production of HDL cholesterol. It has also been shown to have chemopreventive effects against colon cancer by inhibiting cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) expression. Quercetin 3-O-neohesperidoside may be able to inhibit tumor growth by preventing DNA synthesis and inducing apoptosis in tumor cells.
