2-(Aminomethyl)-N,N-dimethylaniline is a synthetic chemical compound that is used as a catalyst in the production of other chemicals. It is used in the synthesis of cyclohexanol and bicarbonate. 2-(Aminomethyl)-N,N-dimethylaniline can be prepared by reacting lithium with dimethylaniline. The product may be purified through recrystallization or distillation. This chemical has shown to be an effective catalyst for the conversion of chloride to chlorobenzene and benzene, but it also has some by-products such as cyclohexanol and bicarbonate.
