• Description: 2-Biphenylmagnesium bromide (2BMgBr) is a phosphine that has been synthesized by the reaction of biphenyl with magnesium bromide. This compound was studied using x-ray diffraction and found to form an imine linkage with a variety of alkyl, aryl, and heterocyclic compounds. This product was also found to undergo cross-coupling reactions in the presence of tetraarylboranes or aldehydes. 2BMgBr is used in devices such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and organic field effect transistors (OFETs). It is also used as a luminescent material for crystallography studies.
