Bis[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]amine (BTSAP) is a chemical compound that is commonly used in the process of sample preparation for mass spectrometry. BTSAP is used to remove water and other volatile substances from samples, such as proteins and peptides, before they are analyzed. It has been shown to adsorb at the reactive site on β-amino acids and also binds to magnetic particles. The minimal concentration of BTSAP required for adsorption is 0.1% w/v in an acidic environment. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy has been used to study the binding mechanism of BTSAP onto β-amino acid.
