6-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-2-naphthoic acid is a hydrophobic compound that binds to the monomer of the polyester with an interaction constant of K = 3.6 x 10 M. This interaction is due to its acidic character, which allows it to interact with the hydrophobic regions of the polyester's monomer. It also has an adapalene binding constant of K = 2.5 x 10 M and a molecular weight of 288.39 g/mol. 6-(4-Methoxyphenyl)-2-naphthoic acid can be used in liquid crystal and hydrolyzed suzuki coupling reactions as a synthetic intermediate for polyesters, such as poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET).
