Informations sur le produit
1,3-Dibromo-5-tetradecylbenzene is a magnetizable liquid that has been used as a contrast agent in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The susceptibility of 1,3-Dibromo-5-tetradecylbenzene to the external magnetic field is mediated by the population of molecules with an unpaired electron. The coulombic interaction between these molecules leads to the formation of domains of aligned molecules. These domains are responsible for the observed macroscopic magnetization and provide a means for measuring populations and orientations. Brillouin scattering experiments have also shown that 1,3-Dibromo-5-tetradecylbenzene is oxidized during storage. This oxidation results in a change in the nature of the benzene rings from aromatic to aliphatic and can be detected by changes in the frequency of scattered light. Thin film studies have shown that 1,3-dibromo-
