1-Bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)acetylene is a colorless, flammable liquid that has a sweet odor. It is used in the production of polymers and as a solvent. 1-Bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)acetylene can be found in the form of an ethynyl radical under ultraviolet light. The molecule has an intense spectrum with peaks at λ = 327 nm (ε = 10,700), λ = 328 nm (ε = 7,200), and λ = 329 nm (ε = 5,000). 1-Bromo-2-(4-chlorophenyl)acetylene is also conductive because it conducts electricity.
