Description

Benzoyl-N,N-diethylthiourea is a compound that has been shown to be an effective anticancer agent. It is structurally similar to thiocarbamide, a known anticancer drug. Benzoyl-N,N-diethylthiourea works by binding to the chloride ion in the mitochondrial membrane and blocking its transport into cells. This leads to a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential and ultimately cell death. Benzoyl-N,N-diethylthiourea also has an effect on metal ions and can bind with them, which may lead to the inhibition of certain enzymes. The cytotoxicity of benzoyl-N,N-diethylthiourea was significant in cancer cells but not in normal cells.
