Description

Berninamycin A is a macrocyclic antibiotic that belongs to the class of antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to have anticancer activity against human cells in vitro. The wild-type strain of this bacterium has been used for the isolation and purification of the chemical structure of berninamycin A. Berninamycin A is a cyclic peptide with an unusual macrocyclic structure that contains a three-carbon skeleton and a single amine group as its active form. This compound also has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis at low concentrations, which may be due to its ability to act as an acid catalyst.
