Methyl 3-aminocrotonate is an intermediate in the synthesis of pyridinedicarboxylic acid. It is a white powder with a melting point of 160-165°C and a boiling point of 263°C. Methyl 3-aminocrotonate is soluble in water, alcohols, ethers, chloroform, and benzene. It has been detected by its UV absorption at 227 nm. The detection sensitivity for this compound was found to be 0.1 ppm. This product has shown to produce calcium stearate as an acid conjugate.
