Description

TAPI-1 is a protease inhibitor that inhibits the activity of three major enzymes: Collagenase, MMP, and Stromelysin. TAPI-1 has been shown to inhibit the activation of neurokinin-1 receptor (NK1R) in human lung cancer cell lines. TAPI-1 also blocks the activity of epidermal growth factor (EGF) by inhibiting its binding to its receptor, which may be a potential treatment for autoimmune diseases. TAPI-1 inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in human lung carcinoma cells. Furthermore, TAPI-1 blocks tumorigenesis in animal models of colon cancer and breast cancer by inducing apoptosis.
