• Description: Olmesartan medoxomil is a prodrug that is metabolized to the active form, olmesartan, in the liver. The esters of olmesartan medoxomil are metabolized by hydrolysis and by esterases. The most common side effects of olmesartan medoxomil are headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea and diarrhea. Olmesartan medoxomil is used for the treatment of high blood pressure in adults. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
