Quisinostat is a drug that belongs to the group of protein inhibitors. It inhibits the activity of histone deacetylases (HDACs), which are enzymes that remove acetyl groups from lysine residues on histones and other proteins. Quisinostat can inhibit HDACs by binding to a zinc atom in the active site of these enzymes. This inhibition disrupts the transcriptional regulation of genes, leading to cell death. Quisinostat has been shown to have anti-tumor effects in animal models and is being investigated for potential use in cancer treatment.
