- β-D-Glucose anhydrous
D-Glucose is a monosaccharide that is used as an energy source. D-glucose is transported across the cell membrane by a sodium-dependent transporter. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and staphylococcus in rat liver microsomes, as well as an inhibiting effect on the growth of squamous carcinoma cells in rats. D-glucose has also been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in diabetic rats, which may be due to its ability to stimulate insulin release from the pancreas.
