Description

DNA ligase (ATP) is an enzyme that plays a crucial role in DNA replication and repair. It catalyzes the formation of phosphodiester bonds between adjacent nucleotides, sealing the gaps in the DNA strand. This enzyme has been shown to be involved in various cellular processes such as apoptosis, protein kinase activity, and cancer cell growth. Studies have revealed that inhibitors of this enzyme have potential anticancer properties and can be used as tumor inhibitors. Capsaicin analogs have been identified as potent inhibitors of DNA ligase (ATP), which may help in developing novel anticancer therapies. Urine from Chinese patients with bladder cancer has also been found to contain elevated levels of this enzyme, making it a potential biomarker for cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring.
