2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazolane-4-carboxylic acid is a thiazolidine that belongs to the class of chromatographic compounds. It has been shown experimentally to have pharmacological effects on the heart and cardiac muscle. 2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazolane-4-carboxylic acid has also been shown to have antimalarial activity in vitro and in vivo. This compound is able to inhibit the plasmodium parasite by binding to a membrane receptor and preventing the formation of a functional proton pump. 2-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1,3-thiazolane-4-carboxylic acid may also be used as an antihypertensive agent due to its ability to inhibit angiotensin II production.
