1-Chloro-1,2-benziodoxol-3(1H)-one (CBDO) is a chlorinating agent that is used in the synthesis of amides. It can be used to introduce functional groups or modify existing functional groups. CBDO can be used for the preparation of compounds with reactive functional groups that are difficult to synthesize using other methods. It has been shown to be able to react with a wide range of functional groups, including benzene rings and electron-deficient heteroatoms such as sulfur and nitrogen. The pharmacokinetics and safety profile of CBDO have been studied in rats and dogs. It has also been shown to have potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This drug was found to be well tolerated in animal studies, which included oral administration at doses up to 10 mg/kg without adverse effects.
