Nifeviroc is a peptide that belongs to the class of activators. It is used as a research tool to study the function of ion channels and ligands. Nifeviroc binds to the N-terminal domain of the sodium channel, which activates the channel by increasing its permeability to sodium ions. This leads to an increase in membrane potential, depolarization of the cell, and an increase in neuronal excitability. Nifeviroc has been shown to be effective in blocking pain transmission by inhibiting voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSC).
