Description

4,4'-Bis(±,±-dimethylbenzyl)diphenylamine is a bisphenol with a phenolic hydroxyl group on each benzene ring. This compound has been shown to have antioxidative properties in the presence of metal ions. The antioxidant activity of 4,4'-bis(±,±-dimethylbenzyl)diphenylamine can be attributed to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with metal ions and metal hydroxides. In addition, 4,4'-Bis(±,±-dimethylbenzyl)diphenylamine is also able to scavenge free radicals that are generated by reactive functional groups on the surface of particles. This compound also has a particle size range of 5-200 nm and can be used as an additive in ternary mixtures with calcium carbonate and magnesium oxide.
