Description

Phenyl anthranilate is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H6O2. It is a white solid that is soluble in most organic solvents. Phenyl anthranilate has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit hydroxide-induced inflammatory skin diseases. It also has insulin sensitizing properties and can be used as a potential therapeutic agent for insulin resistance. The synthesis of phenyl anthranilate involves the oxidation of benzene by sodium hydroxide in the presence of chloride ions and metal surfaces, followed by the reduction of the resulting hydroxybenzaldehyde with hydrazine and subsequent decarboxylation of the monocarboxylic acid product.
