2-(Dimethylamino)-N-phenylacetamide is a reactive, hydrochloric acid-soluble, and soluble in dimethylammonium chloride. It is used as a cellulose derivative for the production of polyvinyl acetate and can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of pyrazoles. 2-(Dimethylamino)-N-phenylacetamide reacts with ethylene diamine to form cellulose acetate. It also reacts with fatty acids to form insoluble reaction products. This chemical has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit the formation of prostaglandins.
