Description :
2,6-Dibromo-4-trifluoromethylphenol is a structural analog of 2,6-dibromophenol. It has been shown to be a good ligand for catalysts. This chemical has been used as an experimental catalyst for the oxychlorination of toluene and catalysis of phenols and phenoxides. 2,6-Dibromo-4-trifluoromethylphenol can also be used as an anion in solvents. It is stable under refluxing conditions and soluble in anions (e.g., Cl-, Br-, I-) and solvents such as ethers, nitriles, esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, alcohols, acetone, benzene and toluene.
