Morindin is a dietary supplement that has been found to have anti-inflammatory and cancer prevention properties. It is extracted from the fruit of Morinda citrifolia, which grows in India. Morindin contains a mixture of fatty acids and alkaloids, such as nicotinic acid and 3-O-methylpyridine. The extract appears to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. This binding prevents the receptor from being activated by acetylcholine or other agonists. There are no known side effects associated with morindin consumption when taken orally.
