Description

Dimethoxy(methyl)-n-octylsilane is an organic chemical compound that is a methyl ethyl derivative of dimethoxymethyl octylsilane. It is used as a precursor for the production of antimicrobial peptides. Dimethoxy(methyl)-n-octylsilane has been shown to be effective in coatings against metal surfaces, such as stainless steel, with its hydroxyl group reacting with the metal surface to form a protective layer and its reactive groups forming covalent bonds with the surface. The methylphenyl substituent on this molecule also contributes to its reactivity. Its predominant particle size ranges from 1 nm to 100 nm.
