Mepanipyrim is a fungicide with bactericidal properties. It inhibits the growth of fungi and bacteria by binding to the fatty acid synthesis in the cell membrane, preventing the formation of fatty acids. Mepanipyrim has synergic effects when combined with other fungicides, such as chlorothalonil, thiophanate-methyl, or prochloraz. This product can be used in wastewater treatment and is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The matrix effect is due to its ability to bind to lipids on surfaces and form an insoluble matrix that prevents bacterial re-growth. Mepanipyrim does not have terminal residues as it does not undergo metabolism in mammals and insects are not susceptible to its toxicity.
