Description :
4-(3-Hydroxyphenyl)piperidine is a potent opioid receptor antagonist. It is an analog of piperidine that binds to the opioid receptor, but does not activate it. This drug has been shown to be a competitive antagonist at the δ-opioid receptor and has a higher potency than other analogues such as 4-phenylpiperidine. Additionally, this drug has been shown to bind in the active conformation, which may explain its increased potency. The structural class of 4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)piperidine includes n-substituted piperidines that have strong opioid antagonist properties and are used for pain relief.
