2-Chloro-5H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6(7H)-one is a ligand that is used to validate the ATP binding site in molecular docking. It binds to the ATP binding site on the enzyme and inhibits its function by occupying the active site. 2-Chloro-5H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-6(7H)-one has been shown to bind to the shikimate pathway and inhibit catalysis of this reaction, which leads to inhibition of bacterial growth. This ligand binds at the catalytic site of the enzyme with an ethanesulfonic acid amide bond. The substrate for this reaction is shikimate.
