N-Methyl-N-[1H-indol-3-yl)methyl]amine has been shown to inhibit nitrification and may have potential use as an herbicide. The reaction products of this compound are unknown, but it has been shown to inhibit biosynthesis in vitro assays. This compound also has properties that make it useful for the study of gender and dry weight expression in plants, as well as its ability to be produced by polyclonal antibodies.
