Description :
Levosimendan Impurity 5 is a polymorphic impurity found in levosimendan. Levosimendan is a calcium antagonist that has been shown to have beneficial effects on the heart. Levosimendan Impurity 5 is an enantiomer of 17-hydroxyprogesterone and has been shown to be active in hamsters, although it's role in the human body is not yet known.
Levosimendan Impurity 5 reversibly inhibits methoxystyrene metabolism and can be used as an animal model for styrene toxicity studies. It also inhibits meiosis and l-tartaric acid formation in animals, and has been shown to be active as an anti-inflammatory agent.
