Description

Dimethyl (1,3-dihydro-3-oxo-1-isobenzofuranyl)phosphonate is an inhibitor of the enzyme adenine phosphoribosyltransferase. It has shown to be a bioavailable inhibitor in cancer cells and has been used as a lead compound for the development of improved inhibitors. Dimethyl (1,3-dihydro-3-oxo-1-isobenzofuranyl)phosphonate has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and increase survival in mice with pancreatic cancer, but it is not active against other types of cancer cells. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the production of adpribose, which is a cellular metabolite that is involved in red blood cell formation, among other functions.
