• Description: Atractylodinol is a chemical compound that is found in the Phellodendron amurense and Japonica species. It has potent inhibitory activity against viruses and infectious diseases, such as hepatitis B virus, herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), influenza A virus, and West Nile virus. Atractylodinol binds to the receptor binding site of the viral envelope protein, which inhibits viral entry into cells. This compound has shown to be effective against HSV-1, HSV-2, HIV-1, and West Nile Virus in vitro. Atractylodinol also shows inhibitory activity against bacterial cells by inhibiting protein synthesis at the ribosomes.
