Description :
(R)-2,2'-Bis(bromomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthalene is a coumarin derivative that can be used as an anticoagulant. It is an efficient method for the synthesis of 4-hydroxycoumarin. This compound can also be used as a diluent in pharmaceutical preparations. (R)-2,2'-Bis(bromomethyl)-1,1'-binaphthalene has been shown to have high nitro and chlorine content and is oxidized by fluorine to form furyl and chlorine compounds. The biphenyl moiety of this compound has been shown to possess antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus isolates and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
