Tetradec-1-yn-3-ol is a reagent that reacts with sulfones in organic synthesis. It is also a prepackaged, ready to use reagent for the synthesis of β-unsaturated sulfones. Tetradec-1-yn-3-ol reacts with chloromethyl compounds and other electrophiles to form sulfones. The reaction can be used as an alternative to the traditional method of synthesizing β-unsaturated sulfones using thioketone intermediates.
