It has been shown to inhibit protein interactions with the receptor P2X7, which is involved in pain transmission and inflammation. N2-((1S,2S)-2-aminocyclohexyl)-N6-(3-chlorophenyl)-9-isopropyl-9H-purine 2,6 diamine has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of ion channels involved in the regulation of cell volume and intracellular signalling. This compound also binds to antibodies that recognize the extracellular domain of the P2X7 receptor.
