Description :CGS 35066 is a novel inhibitor of histone deacetylase (HDAC) that is selective for class I HDACs. CGS 35066 has been shown to inhibit the growth of mda-mb-231 breast cancer cells by inhibiting the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis. This drug has also been shown to inhibit the growth of other cancer cells, such as those derived from melanoma, leukemia, and prostate. CGS 35066 inhibits the activity of HDACs by binding to their catalytic zinc finger domains and stabilizing their interaction with DNA. This prevents the enzyme from removing acetyl groups from lysine residues on histones, which alters gene transcription.
