Description :2,5-Anhydro-D-mannofuranose is a biologically active compound that belongs to the group of inorganic acids. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. 2,5-Anhydro-D-mannofuranose inhibits platelet aggregation and prolongs bleeding time in rats by blocking glycosidic bond formation. This compound is also found as a constituent of oligosaccharides and nitrous oxide. Structural analysis has revealed that this molecule contains reactive groups and is acidic in nature. The analytical method for this compound is α1-acid glycoprotein. Monoclonal antibodies against fatty acid have been used for its detection in human serum.
