Aloeresin A is a fatty acid, which has been shown to be reactive with hydrochloric acid. It is found in exudates from the skin and has been shown to normalize insulin sensitivity in obese mice. Aloeresin A is believed to have an anti-inflammatory effect and may also be useful for the treatment of psoriasis. This compound is biosynthesized from myristic acid and palmitic acid by the enzyme acyl-CoA:lactate acyltransferase, although the mechanism of this reaction is not yet known.
