• Description: 2,5-Anhydro-D-mannitol tetraacetate (2,5-AMT) is a medicament that belongs to the group of tetraacetates. It is used as an oral preparation and has been shown to be effective in treating acute myeloid leukemia. 2,5-AMT is an analog of D-mannitol and it can be used for the treatment of cancer. 2,5-AMT has anticancer activity that is due to its ability to inhibit the growth of tumor cells by inhibiting the synthesis of proteins necessary for cell division. It also inhibits the production of fibrous tissue in chronic pancreatitis and fibrosis. This drug may cause allergic reactions such as skin rashes or lip swelling.
