Description

Fluorination is the introduction of a fluorine atom into a molecule. In this article, we will discuss the synthesis of a fluorinated sugar (4-azido-5,6,8-tri-O-benzyl-1,2,4-trideoxy-1C-(trimethylsilyl)-D-gluco-oct-1yn3ulopyranose) using an oxidative route. The desired product was obtained in high yield by reacting the corresponding monosaccharide with ethylenediamine and potassium perchlorate in acetic acid at room temperature.
