Description :
7-Bromo-5-nitroindole is a synthetic auxin that binds covalently to DNA and inhibits transcription. 7-Bromo-5-nitroindole is used for the labeling of DNA with radioactive bromine, which can be detected by autoradiography. This compound has been synthesized in three regiospecific forms: 5-bromo-, 5,7-dibromo-, and 5,7,8,2′,4′,6′-tetrabromo-. The synthesis of 7-bromo-5-nitroindole has been achieved using photoaffinity labeling techniques and deuterated compounds.
