Description

6-Aldehydo-isoophiopogonone A (6AIO) is a flavonoid derivative that was isolated from the leaves of Ophiopogon japonicus. This compound has been shown to induce myocardial apoptosis in rats, but it is not yet known if it has any other bioactivities. 6AIO belongs to a class of natural products called quinolizidine alkaloids and shares similarities with licoagrochalcone, another member of this group. 6AIO has been shown to be reactive with DNA in vitro, which may have some significance for its biological activity. The sample preparation for 6AI0 is currently unknown.
