Description

Ardisiacrispin B is a saponin from the plant Ardisia crispa that has significant cytotoxic activity against cancer cells. It is also effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease and viral infections. Ardisiacrispin B inhibits viral replication by interfering with the cycle analysis of the virus, and induces apoptotic cell death in cancer cells by inhibiting mitochondrial membrane potential. The mechanism of action for this compound is not well understood, but it has been shown to be more potent than other saponins in inducing apoptosis.
