Description

UCN-01 is a basic protein that has been shown to induce apoptosis in vitro. It binds to DNA and inhibits the activity of kinases, which are enzymes that regulate cellular processes such as the cell cycle. UCN-01 can also bind to human α1-acid glycoprotein, which is involved in inflammation and coagulation. This drug is currently being studied for its potential use as an inhibitor of cancer cells.
