1-O-Methyl-beta-D-xylopyranoside is a matrix component that is used as an artificial sweetener. This product has been shown to have the ability to protect cells against radiation and toxic chemicals. 1-O-Methyl-beta-D-xylopyranoside also inhibits the growth of coliform bacteria by inhibiting their energy metabolism and may be used for wastewater treatment.
