• Description: 4-Methylphenyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-b-D-thioglucopyranoside is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by a wide range of pathogens. This drug is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, including some resistant strains. 4MPTGA inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and preventing protein synthesis. It has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against E. coli and other Enterobacteriaceae species as well as other Gram negative bacteria such as Salmonella typhi and Proteus mirabilis. 4MPTGA has also been shown to be effective against the common animal health pathogen Staphylococcus aureus
