• Description: 1,5,6,7-Tetra-O-benzylvoglibose is a naturally occurring pentose that is classified as an inhibitor of protein synthesis. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor cells and may be useful in the treatment of cancer. 1,5,6,7-Tetra-O-benzylvoglibose binds to cation channels and blocks their activity. This prevents the influx of calcium ions into the cell which is required for cell division. 1,5,6,7-Tetra-O-benzylvoglibose also inhibits tumor metastases by inhibiting proliferation of myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). 1,5,6,7 Tetra-O-benzylvoglibose has been shown to inhibit growth factor signaling pathways in cardiac tissue and reduce the risk of cardiac disease development.
